Topic:
Hibernate is an object/relational persistence and query service for Java. Using Hibernate, an application's business logic can be expressed using plain old Java objects (POJOs) while the Hibernate API provides persistence services such as create, read, update, delete (CRUD), advanced querying and batch operations. Hibernate supports over 20 databases and can auto-generate SQL for data manipulation and schema generation while also providing flexibility for writing custom SQL code or invoking stored procedures. Hibernate's configuration is driven either through straightforward XML mapping files or Java 5 annotations. This presentation will give an overview of Hibernate's core features, discuss common usage and illustrate code for a small sample application. It will briefly touch on the Spring framework's Hibernate convenience classes and usage of Hibernate in a ColdFusion/JRun environment.
