Patterns and ASP.NET 2.0
|
Topic:
Patterns play an important role in the software world. By using patterns to abstract and encapsulate common tasks, developers can spend less time on redundant code and tasks, and more time on the domain-specific features of their applications. One example of this is the Provider Model in ASP.NET 2.0, which enables productivity, flexibility, and extensibility by supporting some of the powerful new features such as Membership, Profiles, and more. In this session, we'll look at the ASP.NET 2.0 Provider Model, discuss the services that use providers, and look at how you can extend ASP.NET by creating your own custom providers, or by modifying existing providers. Even for those who are not currently using ASP.NET, an understanding of the provider model will be useful in identifying places within your own applications where such a model could be useful.
