SMTP is the protocol used to send email messages, and a thorough understanding of this protocol can enhance your ability to integrate email into your websites and web applications. By understanding the ins and outs of SMTP you can significantly improve your control over this very important communications medium.

In this presentation we'll learn about SMTP mail object, envelopes and contents, addressing schemes, headers, commands, and more. We'll learn how they affect email messages, and we'll learn how ColdFusion allows our applications to affect them.
